Today is a day of history…

by Aaron

I am thrilled that our nation is whitnessing history today. We have come a long way in ‘race relations’ in 50 or so years.

But, I can’t help but think: If race really has ceaced being an issue, no one would comment about Obama being Africian-Americian.

Even as far as we have walked, we have further still to go.

I kind of think its more or less about "look how far we've come." Our country used to see African Americans as lower than whites, now we're entrusting an African American to run the country. So, more than anything I think its a benchmark.

I agree. I guess I'm just sad that the race card has been played so much with this election. It's just a reminder to me that we are still feeling the effects of racism, and haven't gotten to a truly "colorblind" place yet.
