Light
John 1.4-5
In him was life, life that was the light of men; and light shines in darkness, and darkness could not over power it.
Matthew 5.14-16
Jesus said to his followers:You are the light for the world. A city build on a hill-top cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp to put it under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand where it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine in people’s sight, so that, seeing your good works, they may give praise to your Father in heaven.
1 John 1.5-7
This is what we have heard from him and are declaring to you: God is Light, and there is no darkness in him at all. If we say that we share in God’s life while we are living in darkness, we are lying, because we are not living the truth. But if we live in light, as he is in light, we have a share in one another’s life, and the blood if Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.
Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
